When describing artifacts on Dartmoor there are some terms that not everybody will have come across, although these are explained in the book they have been gathered here for convenience.
Adit
        Horizontal  entrance to a mine.
Blowing house
       Building  used to smelt tin.
    
Bondstone
        A stone that extends through an  entire wall's width to lock it together.
        
Clapper Bridge
        Bridge formed  by large flat slabs of stone.
        
Cleave
        Steep  valley.
        
Clitter
        Debris of  what was formerly the higher part of a tor.
        
Cruck
        Curved  timber supporting a roof.
        
Gert
        Deep open  tin working.
        
Greensward
        Areas where the vegetation is  dominated by grasses.
        
Impost
        Block upon  which an arch rests.
        
Kistvaen
        Bronze Age burial tomb.
        
Logan stone
        A rock  balanced on a point which can be set in motion.
        
Reave
        Bronze Age  long, generally straight, stone boundary wall.
        
Staddle stone
        Mushroom  shaped stones used to raise granaries off the ground.
        
Tolmen 
        Stone with a hole
